Mr. Sunshine is ABC’s single-camera comedy sitcom starring former FRIENDS actor, Matthew Perry. The story revolves around Perry, a San Diego sports arena manager, who begins to re-evaluate his life at the start of the show, where he turns forty. Perry is not just the star of the show, he also the writer and executive producer intensely involved in the show.

Perry’s character, Ben Donovan, is surrounded by colorful characters to make the show more fun. There is his unpredictable boss, Crystal, his slightly crazy assistant who once set fire to a man, Heather, his former friends with benefits, Alice, and Alice’s new boyfriend, former NBA star and Ben’s happy go lucky co-worker, Alonzo. Donovan is portrayed as a workaholic; he really does care about his job and the sports center. He has to endlessly impress his boss, Crystal while in turn directs people to follow his orders. On his fortieth birthday, when he learns that his affair as friends with benefits with his marketing director, Alice, he realizes that he has alienated people and held them at arm’s length for the longest time, and that though he is a nice guy, he has cut himself off from meaningful commitments and friendships. Alice then forms a relationship with their co-worker Alonzo. “I thought we were the same? Ben says, disappointed, to Alice. “When you told me you were emotionally broken, I believed you.” he added.

‘Mr. Sunshine’ axe makes Alison Sad

The end of Mr. Sunshine is making Alison Janney sad. She has admitted this concerning the show that she used to star in as Crystal. The show was axed by the TV station earlier this year just after the first season had ended.

She later on admitted that she enjoyed herself when she was working in the show. She further went ahead to compare the show to a candy store and said that she had so much fun working on the show and she wishes that she could have the chance of going on to play her usual part. She admitted that she likes to play parts where the women are absurd and her chance to sing along James Taylor.

She further said that she had a great time and sorry that it did not go through. She said that her co star and is the executive producer of the show, Mathew Perry is a great person to work with. She went on to say that he was taking up so many honors. Though he looked exhausted, he pushed forth and she admires him for it. She admits that she couldn’t have done it within a few years. She finalized by saying that he handled the writing and the rewriting all together while they were doing it. He did a great job and Janney is proud of him.
